SPECIAL TOPICS OF THEORY OF ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

Petersburg Department of Steklov Institute of Mathematics (POMI) and Euler International Mathematical Institute organise symposium Theory of Partial Differential Equation and Special Topics of Theory of Ordinary Differential Equation. The symposium is dedicated to 150 anniversary since birth of Sofia V. Kovalevskaya (Kowalewski).

Preferable topics of the symposium are those connected with partial differential equations and their applications and special topics of ordinary differential equations, preferably connected with Kovalevskaya case of the rotation of a rigid body about a fixed point.

It is planned that there will be four working days with presentations of papers and one day with an excursion and celebration of the anniversary of S.V.Kovalevskaya.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION

March 1, 2000: Registration
April   5, 2000: Notification of acceptance/rejection of abstracts
April 15, 2000: Submission of the final version of abstract (up to 1 page)

Upon registration the Organizing Committee will send an official invitation required for application for a visa for foreign participants. It will be send via fax. So please check at the Russian Consulate (where you will apply for a visa) whether the original of invitation is needed.

ORGANIZING FEE

Organizing fee is 100$ (100 US dollars) without meals and 150$ (with meals). It should be paid on arrival.

SUPPORT

We are awaiting certain financial support from RFBR which in particular will cover a part of expenses of participants from Russia.
We also hope to be able to reduce the organizing fee for participants from countries with difficult economic situation and for young mathematicians.

ACCOMMODATION

Hotel prices are expected to be starting from 20$ per night.
