Dear Colleagues,

The meeting will be held at the Euler International Mathematical Institute (St. Petersburg, Pesochnaya naberezhnaya, 10). There will be two cycles of main lectures, and also shorter talks. The first cycle of main lectures concerning

Cauchy integral, capacities and harmonic approximation

will be delivered by Professors Gardiner and O'Farrell. The titles of the lectures are:

  1. Capacities, analytic and other.
  2. Analytic capacities and removability.
  3. Analytic capacities and approximation.
  4. Newtonian capacity, thinness and approximation by harmonic functions.
  5. Applications of harmonic approximation on non-compact sets.
More details about the scientific programme will be given later. This announcement is mainly concerned with technical aspects.
IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, we ask you to fill in the attached registration form and to send it by e-mail to the address indicated above, or fill in the same form on the web page. There you will find some additional information.

IF YOU NEED A RUSSIAN VISA, we ask you to fill in the attached visa form (this also can be done on the web-page). The Institute will provide you with an official invitation needed for visa formalities. Normally, such an invitation implies that the viza is issued quite promptly. However, the practice shows that at some rare occasions a consulate may demand additional information, making the procedure more lengthy. In view of this, we don't advice you applying for the visa at a last moment (see also the information about HOLYDAYS below).

ACCOMMODATION will be arranged not far from the Euler Institute. The price approximately is about $30-35 a single room.

If you have some special accommodation requests (say, you prefer a downtown hotel, or you come with accompanying persons, etc.), you are invited to contact the Euler Institute Programme Coordinator

Mrs. Elena Novikova novikova@pdmi.ras.ru

Local transport information will be given later. Please, inform Mrs. Novikova about the MEAN OF TRANSPORTATION and ARRIVAL TIME as soon as this is available.

IMPORTANT: HOLYDAYS. Please, note that the 1st, 2nd, and 9th of May are public holydays in Russia. This may perturb the work of Russian consulates in that period. Also, for the local organizers it will be difficult to handle last-moment requests made in the same period if such requests are numerous.

For the local organizing committee, S.Kislyakov
