Prof. Herbert Abels

I was a guest of the Euler International Mathematical Institute at St. Petersburg in September for a week during the German--Russian Geometry meeting in honor of the 85th birthday of A. D. Alexandrov.

I enjoyed the conference very much and the stay in St. Petersburg and in particular at the Euler Institute. I thank you for the very good organisation and the help during our stay, in particular the care the institute took about our transportation to and from the airport. The hotel (Dvorets molodezhy) is very conveniently located. What I (and others) had a little trouble with in the beginning of the conference was that the heating in the building of the Euler institute was not turned on although the temperatures were low -- by our standards.

I think the institute is a very good place and the international mathematical community can be glad and thankful to have it.

I spent a few days after the conference in St. Petersburg and enjoyed the hospitality and care of colleagues of St. Petersburg and the rich cultural life of your metropolis.
