VERTEX OPERATORS -- FROM TOY MODEL TO LATTICE ALGEBRAS

ABSTRACT:
For a given quantum Lie algebra $\G$ we construct some associative 
algebra $\V$ which can be considered as a "toy model" for the algebra
of vertex operators associated with the corresponding quantum 
affine algebra $\wh{\G}$.
