St. Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities of Europe, founded by Peter the Great about 300 years ago. It is especially nice at this time of year (called “white nights”), when daylight continues from 3 a.m. to 12 p.m. You could see the opened bridges with ship traffic at night - a world-famous St.Petersburg landscape! There are many other interesting excursions, including visits to the small satellite towns Peterhoff (not far from the University campus), Pushkin, Pavlovsk and Gatchina, all with wonderful gardens and palaces of the 18th and 19th centuries.
St. Petersburg is also world renown as a great cultural centre with rich museums, famous theatres (opera, ballet) and philharmonic halls.
Usually June is sunniest and warmest month of the year. The average temperature in June is about 20 C. It may be rainy.
