Moscow--Petersburg seminar on low-dimensional mathematics SPb, PDMI, 12.10.2001, 16:00--17:45, room 311 O.Karpenkov (MSU-IUM, Moscow) "Energy of a knot". There are several notions of knot energy. The first such notion was introduced by Fukuhara in 1987 who proposed a method of untangling knots that makes use of the gradient flow for the energy functional. Subsequent authors, notably Ohara, Freedman--He--Wang, Aaron-Cantarella-Fu-Ghomi-Howard and others considered different definitions of knot energy. I will speak about some new results related to the generalized energy of Aaron et al and a new construction that I call Min-Max energy.
