1974-1977 Boarding school for physics and mathematics students attached to the Leningrad University.
1977-1983 Department of Physics, University of Leningrad Masters degree in physics awarded in 1983
1986 Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics, University of Leningrad Thesis: Algebraic-geometry methods in the theory of nonlinear partial differential equations. New classes of Toda lattice and Sine-Gordon equation solutions in terms of special functions. Symmetries of algebraic curves and their influence on solutions of nonlinear differential equations. Implementation of finite-gap integration formulas. Applications of the results to the Sine-Gordon equation.
1995 Habilitation in Mathematics, Russian Academy of Science Thesis: Integrable surfaces and symmetries of finite-gap solutions. New applications of the Theory of Integrable Systems to the problems of the geometry of surfaces and investigation of the algebro-geometrical solutions with additional symmetries.
