Previous Euler Symposium (2009)

First Announcement

The meeting is the continuation of a very successful series of similar meetings at the Euler Institute in 2005, 2007 and 2009. You may find the list of participants and the programme of the 2009 symposium at http://www.pdmi.ras.ru/EIMI/2009/WTMP.

We intend to bring together people actively working in condensed matter, high energy and mathematical physics -- to share new achievements, methods, and ideas. The guiding principle of the symposium is that theoretical physics is one field with many common methods shared by different sub-communities.

The main subject of the symposium are quantum field theories in condensed matter and high energy physics. In particular, the following topics will be discussed:

    • duality between weak and strongly coupled systems, ADS/CFT
    • holography in quantum field theory
    • conformal field theories
    • critical phenomena
    • exactly solvable models
    • topology in quantum field theories
    • supersymmetry in high-energy and condensed-matter physics
    • chiral fermions in particle and condensed-matter physics
    • field theories of interactions and disorder
    • new solutions in cosmology

The meeting starts on Friday, July 8, and ends on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. We plan to have five and a half working days with about 30 long talks in total. On Sunday, July 10th, there will be a boat trip along the beautiful rivers and canals of St. Petersburg, accompanied by the conference dinner.

Following the main idea of the workshop, we ask the speakers to present their talks in a pedagogical form accessible to people from other subfields. In addition, there will be many students.
