Dear Colleague,

The meeting "ANALYTICAL METHODS OF CELESTIAL MECHANICS" (a part of the Euler Congress) will be held at the Euler International Mathematical Institute in July 8-12, 2007. This meeting will be one of the main points of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of LEONHARD EULER's birth, to be held in St. Petersburg, Russia, during June - July 2007.

The day of arrival of the participants is July 8, Sunday. The last working day of the conference is Thursday, July 12.

Main topics include:

  • qualitative methods of celestial mechanics,
  • Hamiltonian mechanics,
  • few-body problem,
  • exact solutions,
  • stability and bifurcation analysis,
  • integrability in classical and celestial mechanics,
  • KAM theory,
  • topology of integral manifolds and phase portraits,
  • stellar dynamics,
  • motion of planets and satellites in the Solar system,
  • interactions between analytical methods and numerical simulations.

  • Nikolay Vassiliev (St. Petersburg), co-chair
  • Yuri Batrakov (St. Petersburg)
  • Alexandr Bruno (Moscow)

REGISTRATION If you intend to participate, we ask you to fill in the registration form as soon as possible: http://www.pdmi.ras.ru/EIMI/2007/AMCM/app.html

THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION AND PRESENTATION OF ABSTRACTS IS MAY 15

If you need a visa and/or hotel reservation, we ask you to make it as soon as possible, but not later than May 1, so that you could get an official invitation for visa approach at the proper time.

Registration fee: 200 Euro.

For Russian participants who work inside Russia the fee could be covered by the grant of the Russian Basic Research Foundation. If you need such kind of financial support, please contact amcm@imi.ras.ru.

The detailed information about visa could be found at http://www.pdmi.ras.ru/EIMI/2007/AMCM/visa.html

ACCOMMODATION Accommodation will be arranged at nearby hotels (we shall do our best to arrange it at reasonably low price). The Euler Mathematical Institute is located near the river Malaya Nevka in a nice historical part of St. Petersburg. June--July is a peak time of tourist season. To arrange your accommodation as good as possible we will book the hotel rooms beforehand. If you have some special requests (say, you prefer a downtown hotel, you come with an accompanying person, etc), please indicate it in the registration form. Most of the hotel prices for foreign participants are in the range 70-120 EURO per night. Please let us know (in the registration form) what price you can afford. A cheap accommodation in a student hostel may also be possible.

If you have some special accommodation requests (say, you prefer a downtown hotel, or you come with accompanying persons, etc.), you are invited to contact the Euler Institute programme coordinator Mrs. Elena Novikova: novikova@pdmi.ras.ru

ABSTRACTS AND TALKS The program will include several plenary talks (60 min), the regular talks (40-50 min) and poster session.

If you intend to give a talk, please send an abstract (TeX/LaTeX and pdf/ps at most 3 pages) to amcm@imi.ras.ru. The booklet of abstracts will be available at the Conference.

Deadline for abstract submission is May 15.

The conference will be held at the Euler Institute (St. Petersburg, Pesochnaya nab., 10). Transport information will be given in the Final Announcement. Please, inform Mrs. Novikova about the mean of transportation and your arrival time as soon as this is available.

Please, distribute this information among your colleagues. You could also see and/or print the conference poster at http://www.pdmi.ras.ru/EIMI/2007/AMCM/poster.jpg a bit later.

We hope to see you in St.Petersburg this summer!

With best regards,
Konstantin Kholshevnikov,
Nikolay Vassiliev
