Welcome
Three dates in 2012 are related to Nonsmooth Analysis:
1. It will be 140 years ago that P.L.Chebyshev had started to write his famous paper "On polynomials least deviating from zero", which gave birth to Nonsmooth studies.
2. It will be the 100-th year since the birth of L.V.Kantorovich - the god-father of Linear Programming. LP problems can be reduced to nonsmooth problems.
3. It will be 50 years since J.-J. Moreau published his seminal paper on "Fonctions convexes en dualite, Seminaire de Mathematiques de la Faculte des Sciences de Montpellier, no. 1, 1962," which triggered the origin of the notion of subdifferential for convex functions.
These dates provide good reason for nonsmooth veterans of the last 50 years to meet, summarize some results in Nonsmooth Analysis with applications and evaluate its perspectives.
The Euler International Mathematical Institute (St.-Petersburg, Russia), St.-Petersburg State University, and Laboratory of Algorithms and Technologies for Networks Analysis (The National Research University - Higher School of Economics, Moscow) are planning to hold an International Conference "Constructive Nonsmooth Analysis and Related Topics" between 18 and 23 June, 2012.
Organizers of the conference are: Vladimir F. Demyanov (St.-Petersburg State University), Alexander B. Kurzhanski (Lomonosov Moscow State University), Nadezhda Zalesskaya (Euler International Mathematical Institute), Tatiana Vinogradova (Euler International Mathematical Institute).
Co-organizers: Panos Pardalos (The National Research University - Higher School of Economics, University of Florida), Boris Goldengorin (The National Research University - Higher School of Economics, N.Novgorod Branch)
The list of Members of the International Program Committee and other related information are coming soon.
Those interested in receiving further information are invited to send email letters (at the email address cnsa@imi.ras.ru, subject: CNSA-2012SPB), indicating their name, affiliation and intention to deliver (or not to deliver) a talk (if yes, please, give a tentative title).
